As Nigerians go to the polls tomorrow and decide the next President of the Country, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela has solicited the intervention of the security agencies in the state to protect Journalists covering the 2023 general elections in Ekiti.
Ojomoyela, in a statement in his office in Ado-Ekiti, stressed on the importance of Journalists’s safety at the polls, considering the enormous polling units in the state.
The Ekiti NUJ Chair also expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the state, saying they have been on top of their game via adequate distribution of electioneering materials.
According to him, “My only fear is about Journalists, we have about 177 wards in Ekiti with over 2,000 Polling Units and Journalists are expected to cover virtually every where to bring in stories.
“And we have been assured by the Security Agencies that our people will be taken care of.
“Thank God in Ekiti, we don’t have issues of delay in materials delivery, INEC have already taken care of logistics.
“Going from experience, INEC has been spectacular in Ekiti in terms of distribution and conduct of elections.” He concluded
