The Chairman of Association of Kick Boxing, Ekiti State, Prince Adekunle Ogidi has donated Kick Boxing Kits worth millions of Naira to athletes.
Some of the sporting kits are ten pieces of Groin Guard, two pieces of Chin Guard Colour Red, two pieces of Chin Guard, Colour Blue, sixteen pieces of Mouth Guards, two pieces of 90kg Punching Bags, Five pieces of fighting shorts, Blue colour, seven pieces of fighting shorts, orange colour, one pair of Sparing Gloves, Colour Blue, one pair of Sparing Gloves, colours red.
Others are two pieces of Head Guard, Colour Red, Two pieces of head guard, Colour Blue, Two pairs of kicking pads,Orange colour, two pairs of Kicking Pad, Blue colour, four pieces of Coaching Thighs Target, two pieces of Coaching Chest Guard.
Receiving the items on Monday at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, Governor Biodun Oyebanji appreciated Ogidi for the gesture, saying such would enhance the preparation of the athletes for National competitions and encourage them to win gold for the state.
Oyebanji, represented by his Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Olusola Osetoba described Prince Ogidi as a blessing to the sport sector, saying he had done much for athletes beyond expectations urging well meaning individuals to emulate him.
In a remark, the Chairman, Boxing Association, Ekiti State, Mr Israel Adesokan known as Jaru noted that the step was another breakthrough in the history of sports in Ekiti State, urging residents of the State to continue supporting Governor Biodun Oyebanji beyond second term in office.
Presenting the items, Hon. Ogidi, who was appointed two months ago by Governor Oyebanji as Chairman of Kick Boxing Association, Ekiti State, explained that the gesture was part of his personal resolutions to contribute to the development of young talents in Ekiti State and showcase them to the world.
He noted that Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji had invested so much in sports, adding that little contributions from Stakeholders like him would serve as an added value.
According to him, it’s not all about the worth of the project but the impact. Prince Ogidi noted that investing in sports would reduce involvement of youths in drugs abuse, prostitution and other immoral acts in the Society.
He challenged the kick boxers to perform excellently during the forthcoming sports festival with a promise that every participant would be given 100 thousand naira for winning Gold, fifty thousand naira for Silver and thirty thousand would be given for Bronze.
The Acting General Manager, Ekiti State Sports Council, Mayowa Ogundele appreciated the Prince Ogidi for presenting the kits to the boxers, describing the gesture as overwhelming.
