The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Akure Zone 17, Ajani Omolabi has pledged the readiness of the Zone to rid the subnational of criminal elements.
The AIG declared his support on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti during his familiarisation visit with the command.
He called on the public to always provide timely and credible information to the force on suspicious activities of persons with questionable characters in their vicinities.
This according to him would further ensure security of lives and property in every part of the country, saying security agencies alone can’t not achieve all that is required to fully protect Nigeria.
DIG Omolabi urged the stakeholders, comprising religious leaders, transport unions, students unions, artisans as well as market leaders, among others, to always avail the police and other security apparatus, with needed information that would particularly help in nibbling crimes and criminality in the bud.
His words, “To criminals, my warning to you is that you steer clear, because we will locate you and deal with you, in accordance of the law, if you refuse to change and live by the law”.
He appreciated the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji for the peace being enjoyed in the Ekiti, with a promise not to disappoint him.
He also commended the Commissioner of Police in the State, Joseph Eribo, for his proactiveness and ensuring that there is peace and order in the state.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, thanked the AIG for the visit and appreciated him for his mentorship of officers in the zone, as well as his leadership acumen.
He solicited more synergy and support from the stakeholders, in order to sustain the peaceful atmosphere currently being enjoyed in the state.
