Court adjourns trial of Ekiti Monarch over alleged certificate forgery

Justice Babs kuewumi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has adjourned the trial of Alarararomi of Araromi Ekiti, Ijero Local Government, Oba Babalola Adebomi over alleged certificate forgery to October 7th this year.

on February 20th this year, Justice T.B Adegoke of the Federal High Court, Akure, Ondo State had ordered that the trial of the monarch be moved to Ado-Ekiti division of the court.

Oba Babalola was arraigned last year on two charge, bordering on alleged forgery of the University of Ibadan certificate and presenting same to the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti for a job in 2008 and also alleged forgery of the Discharge Certificate of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) and presenting same to the University Teaching Hospital for job.

During the court proceeding, a principal legal officer from the Ekiti State Ministry of justice, Mr Sina Adeyemo told the court that he had been Authorised by the Attorney General of the State, Mr Dayo Apata to take over the matter citing sections of the constitution to back his request.

However, the prosecutor, Mr Itunu Osobu opposed the request insisting that the Attorney General of Ekiti State can not take over the case , being a Federal matter.

Justice Kuewunmi later adjourned the matter for further deliberation on the request of the EKiti State Ministry of Justice
