News reaching NEWSTODAYNG says that passenger train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja had derailed this morning.
Report has it they the incident occurred along the busy Kaduna–Abuja corridor, adding that some cabins were overturned, resulting in passengers scrambling to safety.
Although details remain sketchy, it was not immediately confirmed whether any casualties were recorded.
The cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained but, authorities have in the past linked frequent disruptions on the route to vandalism and activities of scavengers.The Kaduna–Abuja railway, has faced multiple challenges in recent years.
In March 2022, the line was targeted in a deadly attack by armed men, resulting in several fatalities and abductions.
As at the press time of filing this report, officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and security agencies had not yet released any statement.
