The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji has been honoured with a Humanitarian award by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ekiti State Council over his giant strides in different sectors such as agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, among others.
This was just as the Council threw its weight behind the Governor for the forthcoming 2026 gubernatorial election in Ekiti.
The Council Chairman, James Bankole described the Governor as the right candidate for Ekiti, citing his giant strides in various sectors, geared towards the growth and development of the state.
Bankole stated this in Ado-Ekiti during the grand finale of 2025 International Youth Day Conference themed: ‘Local Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future’.
The Chairman noted that the Governor has prioritized youth empowerment through various initiatives such as “Bring Back the Youth in Agriculture” project, which has engaged over 400 young farmers, providing them with essential farm inputs and valuable skills to boost agricultural productivity and entrepreneurship.
He added that the Governor has also strengthened the healthcare system, invested in healthcare infrastructure, promoted digital solutions, among others.
Bankole equally used the opportunity to call on the youth of Ekiti State to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise ahead of the 2026 governorship election, emphasizing the importance of youth participation in decision-making processes.
In her keynote address, the Commissioner for Industry, Investment, Trade and Cooperative, Adeola Omotayo, urged Ekiti youth to embrace the youth-centered policies of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration, stressing that doing so would greatly improve their lives.
Other Awardees include the Ekiti State Commissioner of Industry and Investment, Hon Idowu Odebunmi, Director General, Community Communication, Mary Oso-Omotoso, among others.
