’26 Poll: Kayode Ojo to arrive Ekiti on October 9 ahead of APC Primaries

Adebayo Adenrele

A gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Kayode Ojo has put all arrangements to tour all the 177 wards in the state starting from Thursday, 9th October, 2025.

The visit is not unconnected to the forthcoming October 27 primary election in the state, which would determine the candidate of party ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.

Speaking with journalists on Saturday through his Consultative Team Lead, Olukayode Oluyemo alleged that intelligence reports indicate that some groups of political thugs, believed to be loyal to Governor Oyebanji have been threatening to disrupt the legitimate exercise.

Oluyemo warned the Governor against using public institutions such as the Nigeria Police Force, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), others to harass members of the party supporting other aspirants, especially Kayode Ojo.

He also urged the state government to release all unlawfully detained individuals and also demanded independent investigation into the arrests, attacks and the alleged collusion between government officials, security agencies and judicial officers.

He said, “We wish to inform the public that Engr. Kayode Ojo will be touring all 177 wards across Ekiti State. Intelligence reports indicate that the same group of political thugs, believed to be loyal to Governor Oyebanji, are threatening to disrupt this legitimate exercise.

“Someone was arrested on Thursday in Emure for expressing his choice for Kayode Ojo. He was charged for kidnapping where there was no evidence. He was charged to court within 48 hours and sentenced to prison for 40 days.

“If our Police react to criminal activities the way they arrest our members, there will not be any crisis in the state.

“We have done the best we can that’s why we are appealing to the judiciary and the security to sanitise the bad eggs within their institutions.

“All the names removed are bonafide members of this party. We paid for dues, we are up to date in our subscription to the party and we have also formally complained to the national body about the unlawful and criminal removal from the register.

“The Ekiti State Police Command appears to be complicit, we can no longer trust them. Some aides of the Governor have threatened Kayode Ojo and his supporters, yet they are yet to be arrested”.
