As part of the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s Family Welfare Schemes, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has presented cheques of a total sum of twenty three million, eight hundred and forty nine thousand, five hundred and fifty four naira (N23,849,554.24) to the families and next of kins of twenty seven deceased and maimed officers of the Command.
In his address, the CP sympathized with the beneficiaries who lost their loved ones during the course of their services to the Nation, while assuring them that the Force under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun, remains deeply committed to the welfare of Police Officers and their families and will continue to evolve and revitalize welfare schemes to ensure adequate support for the families of fallen heroes and improve the conditions under which officers serve.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu.
The statement continues, “The CP encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the funds by channeling them into legitimate businesses and the upkeep of their households.
“Reacting, the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the IGP for the kind gesture, as they noted that this will go a long way to lessen the burden on them, while promising to make judicious use of the funds.
“The CP was joined by Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police and some senior Officers of the Command during the presentation in his Office at Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti”.
