Ekiti Guber Poll: Protest rocks APC Headquarters over Kayode Ojo’s exclusion from Governorship Primary

David Williams

Protest on Friday broke out at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja as aggrieved party members from Ekiti State expressed dissatisfaction over the exclusion of an aspirant, Kayode Ojo, from the forthcoming governorship primary election.

The protesters, carrying placards with various inscriptions, accused the party’s screening committee of bias and demanded the immediate reinstatement of Ojo’s name on the list of cleared aspirants.

They argued that his disqualification was politically motivated and contrary to the principles of fairness and internal democracy the APC claims to uphold.

Speaking to journalists, one of the protesters said the group would not relent until justice is served, warning that the decision could trigger serious division within the party ahead of the 2026 governorship poll in Ekiti State.

Security operatives were stationed around the party’s national secretariat to prevent any breakdown of law and order as the protest continued peacefully.

Efforts to reach the APC National Publicity Secretary for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
