Fresh concerns have been raised over the worsening condition of the major roads and highways in Benue and Kogi States, especially the one linking both states, with their collapse poising a direct consequence of prolonged neglect and lack of good governance.
The vital corridor, which serves as an economic lifeline for commuters, farmers and transporters across the two states, has become nearly impassable, disrupting the movement of goods and services.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that successive administrations have failed to prioritise the rehabilitation of the highway despite its strategic importance.
The deteriorating road has also contributed to growing insecurity in the region, with commuters exposed to attacks due to long hours spent navigating failed portions of the route.
