Man City Academy player, Han Willhoft-King has retired from football at just 19 years of age.
Willhoft-King joined Tottenham at just 6 years old, rose through the academy as one of England’s top midfield prospects and even played for England at U16 level.
He signed for City last season featuring for the U21s and even training with the first team.
Willhoft-King has now retired from football to pursue a law degree at Oxford University.
Willhoft-King: “I always felt understimulated in football. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved it. But I felt I could be doing more.
“Injuries were a big factor but that’s the easy answer. I felt I needed something a bit more, mainly intellectually, which sounds quite pretentious.
“I don’t know many people who, when they reach Man City Under‑21s, would pack it in at that point. Because when you are playing for Man City Under-21s, the expectation would be to pursue a career”.
