Ekiti Monarch warns against illicit drug trading as Senate Spokesman, Adaramodu opens Lockup Shops in Constituency

The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi has hailed Senate Spokesman and the lawmaker representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Yemi Adaramodu for building ultramodern Lock-up Shops and Open Stores in his Constituency, warning prospective traders against illegal activities, including illicit drug trading.

Speaking over the weekend while commissioning the project in Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Ajibade lauded Senator Adaramodu for effective representation and called on traders to make judicious use of the market.

He emphasized that the facility is legally owned by the local government and that interested traders must apply through the council.

“I want to appreciate Senator Yemi Adaramodu as a good representative, I thank him for all the good things he has been doing.

“I want to advise our prospective traders to make judicious use of it, Local Government is the owner by law, interested people should apply to the Council.

“We don’t want anybody for drug trade in this market, there should be proper training so that they will not contravene any law”. He said

Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Adaramodu described the market as part of a broader effort to promote sustainable development in Ilawe-Ekiti, saying the idea of the ultramodern Lockup shops, Open Stores named ‘Oba Afuntade Market’, was conceived in order to boost and uplift the local economy of the town.

Adaramodu explained that the project was conceived as a constituency intervention after discussions with the local government, with the aim of accelerating economic growth at the grassroots.

He maintained that more development projects are underway, stressing his commitment to setting a standard of service that future leaders would build upon.

His words, “I want to appreciate the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, there was no mistake in the process that made you our traditional ruler, you have started and done well by promising your Creator that great things will happen during your reign.

“You have created progress for Ilawe-Ekiti, we are all contributing our quota to the development of this town.

“We thank God for the completion of this project, many great things are still underway. That’s why I must serve as an example for someone coming behind me, I must set some great things so that they can know that Ilawe-Ekiti has promising sons and daughters”.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti South West Local Government, Hon. Richard Apolola, described the market as a landmark development that would stimulate commercial activities and improve livelihoods in the town.

He commended Senator Adaramodu for his giant strides in Ilawe-Ekiti, noting that the speed and quality of the project were unprecedented in the area.He urged beneficiaries to maintain the facility, stressing that proper use would ensure its long-term economic value to the community.

The council chairman also announced plans to install solar-powered lighting and provide security at the market, which are measures expected to extend trading hours, improve safety and further enhance commercial activities.

According to him, these additions would enable traders to operate conveniently while increasing revenue generation for both traders and the local government.
