The Chairperson, Committee on Gender-Based Violence, Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology Ijero-Ekiti, Dr. Tolulope Ayo-Awe, joined the advocacy walk against GBV, spearheaded by the First Lady of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, with the theme: “Unite! to end Digital Violence against all Women and Girls”.

Dr. Ayo-Awe, who led other staff of the Committee and students of the Institution to the state capital for the exercise, had earlier supervised a sensitization session on Gender-Based Violence within the college community.

The Chairperson, with the support of other members, also conducted a survey among the students to test their knowledge of the subject, GBV, using the questionnaire method, an exercise described as challenging but impactful.

Responding to questions during an interactive session, Dr. Ayo-Awe noted that no woman deserves digital bullying or any form of violence, adding that everyone, irrespective of gender, has the right to speak out against violence.

While expressing gratitude to COHESTI Management and the Social Work Department, the Committee Chairperson maintained that the Ekiti State First Lady had done tremendously well in aspects such as championing the rights of the girl child, advocating against Gender-Based Violence.

She urged the students to report any form of violence against them to the Institution through the toll-free mobile number availed them.
