The Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC), Ekiti State Command has deployed 735 Special Marshals,13 Patrol vehicles, 2 Ambulances and 1 Tow Truck across the state to avert road crashes in Ekiti.
This is in line with the Corps’ commitment to ensure safer motoring environment Corps under its initiative, ‘2025 Operation Zero’.
The Operation is poised to exhibit total zero tolerance for any form of traffic infractions that can directly or indirectly cause or induce road crashes, as the state celebrates festive seasons.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SRC Tajudeen Balogun.
The statement continues, “To achieve sanity on our roads especially during this yuletide season, the Ekiti State Sector Command has deployed the following.
“735 Regular and Special Marshals across the state, 13 Patrol vehicles, 2 Ambulances, 1 Tow truck These human and materials resources were deployed to ensure that all roads within Ekiti State are safely used by all road users.
“During this period the Mobile court sittings has equally been activated to allow for quick administration and dispensation of justice and so far, from our various sittings from all the three senatorial districts in Ekiti State about 62 traffic offenders have been prosecuted with 4 totally discharged and acquitted for want of evidence and on compassionate grounds.
“To further ensure that roads within Ekiti are safely used,the command in collaboration with the Nigeria Medical Association Ekiti State Chapter also put together a medical outreach program where drivers had their vital signs and eyes checked freely, from the Corps ends, it is only a health driver with adequate knowledge of high way codes/traffic rules that can guarantee a safe usage of roads,as such knowing the health status of drivers is a percussor to healthy wellbeing and better concentration when driving on the roads.
“Our men have equally been strategically positioned to tame surging traffic volume by conducting traffic control at major high traffic prone areas,black spots and our Help Area (Ambulance points at Agbado and Omuo) are already fully activated to attend to any emergency.
“While the command will continue to carry on with it’s sensitization outreach at various motor parks across the state,the Corps Toll-free line 122 is awaiting any caller with calls related to need to clear obstructions,report crashes, traffic congestions and other road safety emergencies the require the attention of thee Corps during and after the yuletide season.
“While appreciating the cooperation we have enjoyed so far from members of the motoring public,the Sector Commander CC Sanya Adeoye _FCIPurS,MICLT_ wish to appeal for more cooperation,understanding and patience as we try to ensure that all road users use the road safely.
