The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday, commissioned two open-stall markets and solar powered borehole built by his aide, Olalekan Ijidale in Agbado-Ekiti, Gboyin/Aiyekire local government.

The two open-stall markets are located at Aba Ipole and Agbado town while 50 elderly women received N50,000 cash gifts each for petty trading and 10,000 exercise books were distributed to all the pupils across Gbonyin/Auyekire local government.

Oyebanji, represented by the Special Adviser, Political and Interparty Affairs, Jide Awe, commended Ijidale for giving back to his community, describing the gesture as a laudable initiative that will improve the livelihood of Agbado-Ekiti people.

He charged other political appointees to emulate Ijidale in their respective communities saying that governance encompasses the contributions of everyone, particularly those occupying positions in government.

On his part, Ijidale, who doubles as the Director General, Bureau of Local Content, said the gesture was necessitated out his love and passion for his people who supported the administration of Governor Oyebanji.

The governor’s aide noted that the funds for the projects were proceeds from his income as an appointee and other means stressing that they deserve the best for their support to the Oyebanji-led administration.

He charged them to mobilise electorates ahead of the June 20 governorship election for more purposeful leadership and development in the state under the Oyebanji administration.

According to him, “Every support that I enjoy and my party enjoy is not something I can quantify. The people of Agbado-Ekiti have given me the opportunity to serve. They voted for our governor and yet they supported our party in every stage of election that we ever had.

“On this note, being appointed as Director General in the state and the only way I can give back to them is to remit little out of what I have earned to the people. It’s a moment for me to mobilise support for the sitting governor who has done well in all areas.

“This community has been in darkness for over 12 years. If such person can come in within the space of six months to deliver new transformers and connected this community back to national grid. It’s an avenue to mobilise electorates to encourage him to do more.”

The Owa-Oroo of Agbado, Oba Samuel Adesina expressed appreciation to Ijidale for extending humanitarian support to his people and residents of the area to support him and the ruling All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Some the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the DG for his generosity and pledged to mobilise Ekiti electorates in Agbado-Ekiti for the governor’s re-election ambition.
