2027 Poll: Stop hiding your manifestos in pockets – Oyetunde Ojo blasts oppositions

Adebayo Adenrele

The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Oyetunde Ojo, has challenged opposition political parties to present concrete policy alternatives to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing them of hiding their manifestos instead of offering credible solutions to the country’s challenges.

Ojo, a former member of the House of Representatives, said opposition parties should move beyond criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and demonstrate what they intend to do differently if elected into office.

Speaking during a media interaction in Ado-Ekiti, the FHA managing director maintained that the opposition had failed to sufficiently articulate alternative development strategies capable of addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit, insecurity, unemployment and other socioeconomic challenges.

He insisted that political parties seeking to displace the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) must be prepared to subject their programmes to public scrutiny rather than rely on condemnation of the government’s policies.

Ojo, who declared support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, argued that the President deserved another four years to consolidate ongoing reforms and infrastructure investments, insisting that Nigerians should assess his administration based on measurable achievements.

He challenged opposition politicians to explain how they would improve on the current administration’s performance, particularly in road construction, public service delivery, economic development and national security.

According to him, elections should be about competing ideas, development strategies and the capacity to deliver, rather than political sentiments or the propagation of negative narratives against the government.

His words, “Opposition parties should stop hiding their manifestos in their pockets. Nigerians deserve to know what they intend to do differently, the policies they want to implement and how they plan to solve the country’s problems.

“It is not enough to criticise President Bola Tinubu every day. If you want to take over government, tell Nigerians what you will do differently and how your programmes will improve their lives.

“Politics should be about ideas, policies and development strategies, not merely the ability to condemn the government. Nigerians want solutions, not endless criticisms.

“If the opposition believes it can do better, let it explain how it intends to tackle our infrastructure deficit, create jobs, improve security and strengthen the economy.

“President Bola Tinubu deserves another four years to consolidate the reforms and infrastructure projects his administration has embarked upon. Nigerians should assess him based on what he has achieved and what he is still working to accomplish.

“The 2027 elections should be a contest of ideas, manifestos and the capacity to deliver. Nigerians must be given the opportunity to compare what each political party is offering before making their choices”.
