While eleven days remains into the commencement of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, the Super Eagles of Nigeria is set to commence preparation today in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The 34th edition of Africa’s biggest sports event will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouake, San Pedro, and Korhogo.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Equatorial Guinea in their first game on Monday, January 14, at the Stade Olympique Alassane Quattara, Abidjan.
Recall that Nigeria is grouped alongside host Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau in Group A.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro in company of his assistants arrived Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday night ahead of his team’s preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
A delegation of players and officials of the team flew out of Abuja on Tuesday afternoon.
Captain Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Olorunleke Ojo were the players who flew out from Abuja, while some others took off from Lagos.
The three-time African champions will spend a week in Abu Dhabi before traveling to Abidjan for the 2023 AFCON finals.
They are expected to arrive Abidjan on Wednesday, January 10.
