A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Monday fined two teenagers identified as Abdullahi Dauda (19) and Bashiru Danni(15), for alleged stealing and unlawful entry.

The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and unlawful entry.

The police prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 3 at about 1200hrs at Lane 9 Ifesowapo Area Bovas Junction in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendants stole drinkers, feeders, galvanised net and feeding trays valued at N100,000 belonging to one Falade-Daf Tayo.

He also alleged that the defendants unlawfully entered into the house of the complainant by jumping the fence into the compound.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 302(1a) and 65 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

Counsel to the defendants, Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case till Aug. 2 for hearing.
