Reality TV sensation Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David, widely known as Doyin from Big Brother Naija, has candidly shared a personal revelation regarding her past inclination towards skin bleaching.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the phenomenon of skin bleaching is not confined to Nigeria, alone but also within Africa at large.
It was revealed that some individuals pursue a lighter complexion, often unaware of the associated risks, stories like Doyin’s and Osifo’s shed light on the potential regret and dangers that can accompany such choices.
In a candid revelation posted on her Instagram story on Monday, Doyin recalled a period in her life when she felt uncomfortable in her own skin, aspiring to transform into a light-skinned black woman.
To achieve this, she purchased a bleaching cream, but to her relief, the cream did not yield the intended results.
In her Instagram story, Doyin expressed gratitude for the cream’s failure, acknowledging that she would have regretted altering her natural skin tone. She also extended a surprising shout-out to the seller of the ineffective cream, recognizing the unintended blessing in the product’s inefficacy.
Doyin’s revelation resonates with a broader societal issue, as skin bleaching is not a unique struggle within the Nigerian celebrity sphere.
