The Oba of Benin, Oba Nā Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, has said that the victory of Bola Tinubu to become the President of Nigeria was a divine ordination.
During a visit to Lagos, the revered monarch emphasized the need for Nigerians to support the Tinubu administration and foster unity for the nation’s greater good.
The Oba of Benin commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his notable achievements and urged him to continue working towards greater heights in his second term. He stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged Nigerians to embrace diversity, emphasizing the need to resolve differences and live together as one family.
His words: “God has ordained that Tinubu would become President of Nigeria. We are all one. I am for peace and tranquility. We must live together as one. Nigeria is big. We must iron out our differences and learn to live together as one, big family,” the Oba stated.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the monarch that Lagos would remain a home for everyone, irrespective of their background. He conveyed greetings from Tinubu and expressed gratitude for the Oba of Benin’s support, emphasizing the commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and promoting socioeconomic development.
The visit included a tour of the Lagos Museum ā the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, reinforcing the cultural ties and respect between the Benin Kingdom and Lagos.
