In a devastating turn of events, a young woman’s hopes for a joyous traditional wedding has been shattered after her ex-fiancé abruptly called off the ceremony, citing concerns about her sickle cell condition.
The heart-wrenching incident has left her grappling with isolation and contemplating drastic measures.
The woman, who craved anonymity, shared her anguish, revealing that her ex-fiancé’s mother, a nurse at a general hospital, played a decisive role in the cancellation. Despite completing her university education, the young woman faced rejection as her ex’s mother deemed her unfit for marriage due to sickle cell disease.
The unexpected revelation came last month when the woman visited her ex-fiancé’s mother at the hospital. Upon learning about her medical history, the mother insisted that her son couldn’t marry someone with sickle cell disease, asserting that it would jeopardize the strength of the union.
Struggling with the fallout, the woman is now burdened with blame from her own family, who question why she didn’t disclose her condition earlier.
