Fast-rising Nigerian songstress, Ayra Starr has issued a public apology to the legendary musician, King Sunny Ade after a recent incident of an alleged contempt at an event.

The controversy arose when Ayra Starr was caught on video snubbing Burna Boy’s mother while greeting a woman sitting beside her and subsequently greeting King Sunny Ade.

The incident sparked criticism on social media, with Nigerians expressing disappointment over the perceived lack of courtesy.

In response to the backlash, Ayra Starr took to her official X on Saturday morning to address the issue and extend her apology.



In her post, she explained the circumstances surrounding the incident, stating, “I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves did not let me see, but I came back to greet everyone properly.”

Ayra Starr emphasized that she has never been disrespectful, describing herself as a “proper Yoruba girl.” She clarified that the video started after she had already greeted Burna Boy’s mom.

The songstress expressed regret to the legend, referring to King Sunny Ade as “uncle,” and conveyed her sincere apologies for any unintended offense caused by the incident.
