…Gov Oyebanji orders Security Agents to fish out perpetrators





Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday have shot dead two traditional rulers in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti state.


NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the two traditional rulers; the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin and the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olushola were ambushed and killed by the gunmen when travelling along the community, while the Alara of Ara Ikole-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba escaped from the scene.


According to Sources, the monarchs were said to be returning from a security meeting in Irele-Ekiti in a vehicle being driven by Alara when they were attacked along the road.


When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, DSP Sunday Abutu said, “I will get the details and get back please.”


Speaking with Journalists, the chairman of the Ajoni Local Council Development Area, Prince Micheal Ogungbemi who confirmed the incident, said the gunmen attempted to kidnap the three traditional rulers but eventually killed two of them.




However, the Governor of the State, Biodun Oyebanji has ordered security agencies in the state to fish out the killers of the monarchs.

Oyebanji, in a statement by his special adviser on media, Yinka Oyebode condemned the dastardly act, while assuring the people of the state that the government would spare nothing to get to the root of the matter.


Governor Oyebanji said security agents have been despatched to the area to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

The Governor, who had just presided over the state security council meeting in Ado-Ekiti, barely an hour before the incidence occurred, said no stone will be left unturned in the bid to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He expressed the condolences of the Government and people of Ekiti State to the people of Imojo Ekiti and Esun Ekiti over the sad incidence.

The Governor also urged the people of the two towns to remain calm and refrain from taking the laws into their own hands. Government, he said, would ensure that justice is served.

Governor Oyebanji charged security agencies in the state to remain vigilant and resolute in the efforts to stamp out crime and criminality from the state.
