Some suspected gunmen again on Saturday killed a 50-yr-old woman whose identity is yet to be ascertained in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital over the sum of N40,280.
The deadly incident occurred around 7am at a junction close to the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti Continuing Education Center, off, NTA road, Ado Ekiti.
According to eye witness, the gunmen came on a bike and attempted to snatch the bag of the middle aged woman who was standing by the road.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the criminals shot at her and rode off after she denied them access to her bag.
The incident caused panic in the area as traders shut down their shops while passers by scampered for safety.
When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident, saying it was a robbery incident adding that the sum of forty thousand, two hundred and eighty naira was found in her bag.
He said her body had been deposited in the morgue and the police is on the trail of the criminals.
Recall that a total number of four persons have been gruesomely murdered in broad daylight in the state capital within the space of one month.
