Governor Kayode Fayemi has given benefits in cheques to 30 Retirees in the ongoing batch one of the Contributory Pension Scheme(CPS) in Ekiti State.
Governor Fayemi gave these benefits at a ceremony in Ado-Ekiti today, as the reflection of prioritising the welfare of serving and retired workers.
Fayemi, ably represented by his Deputy, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi said that CPS was introduced during his first term in government in 2010 as an alternative to the backlog of unpaid arrests under the Defined Benefits Scheme(DBS).
He equally noted that the payment is to ensure that frequent CPS Retirees are paid their retirement benefits as and when due.
He thereby enjoined the Beneficiaries to utilise the benefits judiciously, for the benefit of all.
On his part, the permanent Secretary of the State Pension Commission, Mr Afolabi Adebiyi highlighted the success of the Agency as recovery of unremitted pension Commission deduction from defaulting employees of labour, creation of database for all Pensioners in the State and Local Governments and allocation of new office accomodation to the commission within the State Secretariat.
In his goodwill message, the State Head of Service, Mr Bamidele Agbede implored the Employers of Labour, who are yet to participate to put in accordingly, adding that CPS is the beginning of new life for public Servants in the State.
