A 14-year-old teenager, Naomi Bazira has narrated how she became a mother of 8 children at the age of ten.

According to her, the burden of single-handedly catering for her sick mother and seven siblings started four years ago after her Dad went missing.

Naomi who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the eldest of 8 children also stated that it has been a difficult task providing for her family with no assistance from anywhere.

In a video on the internet, she said, “I started carrying luggage for people and getting paid since I turned ten and it’s now four years now, since the demise of our lovely father.

“Our dad was taken away when we were coming from Rutchuru region and since then, we have never seen him. Our neighbors who had his number called him but his phone has been off. After waiting for a long time, we did burial for him without seeing his body.

“I am the one taking care of my sick mom, myself and seven siblings since my dad’s demise. My mom is alive but in a critical condition, she has been lying down for four years, even when she tries moving, the best she can do is crawl.

“Catering for my mum and siblings have not been easy for me, especially catering for children and ensuring our basic needs are met. We don’t go to school, I am able to provide only food for the family.

“I want us to go to school so we can have a better future but it is not happening since we don’t have any helper and my mummy is suffering from a back pain, we don’t know if her back is broken but she cannot stand or walk. She is always lying down.” She lamented.
