It is set to be for Nigeria Flying Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick who is reportedly wanted at RB Leipzig, Midtjylland and Anderlecht as age-grade competitions like the U-20 Cup of Nations and World Cup has always served as path to stardom for talented players.

The 17-year old defender was one of the stand-out performers as Nigeria won bronze at the recently concluded U-20 AFCON tournament in Egypt.

As confirmed by Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Liepzig, Midtjylland and Anderlecht interested in signing Benjamin who is currently attached to Nigeria Premier Football League club Nassarawa United FC.

The 1.87 tall defender will focus on preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup later in the year, while his representatives, CAA Base continue negotiations with the interested clubs.

Fabrizio wrote ” Nigerian 17-year old defender Benjamin Fredrick is now attracting interest around Europe as Anderlecht, RB Leipzig and Midtjylland are tracking him.

“Fredrick was one of the stand out players in U20 African Cup this month, now represented by CAA Base.”

According to transfer regulations, the clubs can only reach a pre-contract agreement with the player until May 2023 when he turns 18.

Benjamin was solid at the back for Nigeria alongside skipper Daniel Bamiyi who alongside goalkepeer Aniagboso have earned call-up to the Super Eagles team for the AFCON qualifiers vs Guinea-Bissau.
