The Ekiti State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of Akintunde Oyebode and Dayo Apata, SAN, as commissioners following their screening during plenary on Wednesday.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji had forwarded the names of the two nominees to the Assembly on Monday for confirmation. Oyebode is expected to return as Commissioner for Finance, a position he held during the administration’s first term, while Apata is expected to continue as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

The Speaker, Adeoye Aribasoye, moved the motion for their confirmation, commending the nominees for their previous service and noting their familiarity with the legislative arm through earlier appearances before the lawmakers.

Aribasoye observed that the nominees had appeared before the House on several occasions for screening and to present their stewardship accounts. He consequently urged members to allow them to “take a bow and go,” a proposal that received unanimous support.

The Assembly subsequently confirmed the nominations of the two commissioner-designates.
Meanwhile, the House rescheduled the screening of another commissioner-nominee, Dr Oyebanji Filani, following a notification that he would be unable to attend the session.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Babatunde Oke, said Filani’s screening had been moved to Monday, November 2, 2026.

In another development, the lawmakers approved Governor Oyebanji’s request for the appointment of 10 special advisers to support the administration’s activities across key sectors.

The Assembly reiterated its commitment to expediting legislative business, including appointments and budgetary processes, to promote good governance and effective service delivery in the state.

The lawmakers also began consideration of the 2026 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, with the House Leader, Hon. Tolu Ige, leading the debate on the proposed legislation.

Following the bill’s second reading by the Clerk, the Speaker referred it to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislative scrutiny, while other relevant committees were designated as subcommittees to assist in the exercise.
