…as Set lauds Governor Fayemi on move to return School to Roman Catholics

The Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Bishop Felix Ajakaiye has charged the 1982 golden set of Mary Immaculate Grammar School, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State to fight for their rights and save the Country from being ruled by incompetent Leaders.

He stated this today, during their 40th Anniversary Celebration in Ado Ekiti.

He encouraged them to speak and fight for the truth to enable the younger generation to have an enabling environment to live in.

In his words, “Make your voice heard anywhere you go because this Country can’t continue like this.”

“Why should my country, your country, our country be ruled by incompetent Leaders? No! Please, let us keep telling ourselves the truth because this younger generation would ask question, where were you when Nigeria was exploded?”

“So, I am appealing to you, make your voice heard.” The Bishop said.

Also, the President of the Golden 82 set, Hon Charles Fasuba lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for his move to return the School to the Roman Catholics.

He believes that government can’t do it all and as a means to run things smoothly, he frowns at free education, adding that he only fight for leverages in fees for the better of the average men.

“If there is anything Governor Fayemi has done that I applaud, that is returning of the School to the Original Owners, which is, the Roman Catholics.”

“I am not in support of Free Education, money would always be used to run some things but, I always preach that fees should be leveraged for everyone.” He noted

Speaking on the lingering strike by Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASSU, The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, (EKSU), Professor Edward Olanipekun, who is also a member of the golden set urged the Union and Federal Government to reach a beneficial agreement on time, for the betterment of all.

“My advice to ASUU and FG is to adopt the Give and take attitude. It should not be a matter of winners takes all, it must be beneficial to other side.” He said.

An Alumnus of the golden set, who also doubles as an award winning Educator in the United States of America in 2007, Vincent Femi Ajayi, equally encouraged other sets to come home and cater for other needs in School such as provisions of potable water, steady electricity, security, among others.

“We should not leave everything for Government, we are part of the government.
That’s why we embarked on this project and I want to advise other sets to come and identify the areas of the need of the School, there are other needs like provisions of water, steady electricity, security…” He said

To this end, the 82 golden set renovated the School’s Laboratory, a mantra of giving back to the Alma Mater, which was commissioned by the Chairman of the event, Pastor Dr Peter Ajayi.
