Following the remand of human rights activist, Dele Farotimi by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, a pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore has called for a nationwide protest.

Posting on his verified X handle, he noted that Farotimi’s remand is a slap on the judiciary and violation of fundamental human rights.

The protest, which will take place on 10th December, 2024, will cut across states such as Ekiti, Lagos, Abuja and Kings College in London.

Recalled that Farotimi was arrested in his chambers on Tuesday in Lagos, over an alleged defamation against the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola.
