The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has swiftly summoned the recently suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, to its Abuja headquarters for questioning regarding an alleged N585.2 million scandal.

The invitation came shortly after President Bola Tinubu announced Edu’s suspension.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the commission agency’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, recommended Edu’s suspension to allow for a thorough investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds.

The commission promptly acted upon the President’s directive to investigate the payment of N585.2million intended for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos states into a private account.
