The Ekiti NUJ Online Media Chapel, led by its Chairman, Comrade Ayodele Abere, has partnered with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-ekiti for coverage of establishment’s activities.
The 5-man team led by Comrade Abere established the partnership during a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Ebenezer Adekunle Ajayi.
Comrade Abere stated that the purpose of the visit is to familiarise the Online platforms with the establishment, as they remain the only avenue that can properly project their activities.
He noted that online platform has become a versatile tool that can engage any activities compared to other media platforms.
In his words, “The purpose of our visit is to familiarise ourselves with your establishment. Online Media has become an indispensable platform that we can’t do without.
“We realize that you have not been patronising us, so, we are here for partnership.
“The Online medium is very fast, compared to Radio and Print. You can share the news and everybody will be able to read news about the Hospital, even in abroad.
“It’s the major platform that can project you well and we are ready to work with you.”
In his response, Professor Kunle Ajayi nodded to the versatility of the online platforms, while expressing readiness to partner with the Chapel.
However, the CMD urged the team not to bully the Hospital with the confidentiality of their patients, adding that they should always recourse to facts before publication.
He also enjoined them to always take the impact of their stories on Hospital establishments into cognisance, without minding the perception of the public.
“We are willing, we are ready to partner with you. Don’t bully us in the public place because of the confidentiality we run with our patients.
“It’s unfortunate that some write stories about Hospitals without a recourse to facts.
“Whatever news we write, we should look at its impact on the Organization without minding the perception of other people.
“On this note, I want to promise you that we will engage you to the best of our ability.” He concluded
