…urges continued enlightenment to reduce accidents
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to checkmate fake journalists using union’s sticker on their vehicles.
The Chairman of the union, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi was assured the collaboration on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the corps along Ado-Ikere road, Ekiti state.
Babatuyi noted that the enforcement would help checkmate fake Journalists using the union’s sticker on their Cars, adding that the recognized sticker for journalists would be handed over to Road Safety Officers.
While assuring the FRSC of the union’s readiness to project their activities, Babatuyi hinted that the union would work harmoniously with the corps to flush out quacks among journalists in the state.
The chairman further called on the command to increase enlightenment programmes to reduce accident on Ekiti Roads.
In his response, the sector Commander of FRSC, Ekiti State Command, Olusola Joseph assured the union of his readiness to work harmoniously with Ekiti state Journalists, saying journalists roles are vital to crash accident reduction in Nigeria.
While commending visit, he promised to accord journalists the respect they deserved, saying their reportage could mar and make individual or organizations.
Explaining the nature of their job, the sector commander said enlightenment and enforcement were the fulcrum of their jobs, while promising Ekiti residents of more enlightenment that would help reduce crash on the high ways.
