…lauds Ojomoyela-led administration over rancour-free parley with members

…as Babatuyi pledges fight against quackeries




As the 2023 election of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council comes up on Wednesday, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has urged the incoming administration to build on the existing legacy laid down by the Ojomoyela-led regime.

Speaking at the manifesto night on Tuesday held at the Secretariat of the Council in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji, represented by his S.A on media, Yinka Oyebode noted that the Ojomoyela-led regime, over the 6-year spell of his tenure has sustained the peace and unity of the Union, hence the need for the incoming administration to emulate the existing structure.

He noted that despite the frictions among some members in the past in the chapels under the Union, Ojomoyela was able to play his card right by instilling peace among them.

On his part, the commissioner for information, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun also enjoined the incoming administration to always lobby for the interest of its members, adding that the state government will continue to rally support around Journalists in the state.

“Fight for a unified and United body of NUJ and always put the interest of your members first.

“The state government will continue to support Journalists in the state.” He said

The outgoing Chairman of the Union, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela exuded confidence in the single line-up of the contestants, saying that “Politicians should learn from us on what true democracy means”.

Also, the aspirant vying for the chairmanship seat, Kayode Babatuyi pledged to fight against quackeries in the state by constituting a task force committee in conjunction with Security Agencies.

Babatuyi noted that quackeries are inevitable in all profession, hence the plan of his team to constitute the committee to arrest fake Journalists parading themselves in the state.

The Chairman emeritus of the council, Akogun Tai Oguntayo enjoined the incoming administration to follow the constitution to the letter, saying that the law book is their itinerary for the journey of their adminstration.

The Chairman of NUJ Electoral Committee, Yaquob Popoola said the election/inauguration will come up on Wednesday, 20th December, 2023, adding that “We wrote to the National in respect to the election and all aspirants have been cleared at the national level.”
