A Senior Secondary 2 student of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) International College, Afao – Ekiti, Faith Ogundola has emerged as the overall winner in the 2024 National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Energy Essay Competition for SS 2 students held in Abuja.

Ogundola came first out of over 500 SS 2 students that participated in the competition across the country.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by EKSU’s Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun.

According to the statement, the Essay’s topic where Ogundola defeated other contestants was “HOW DOES THE NEW CUSTOMER PROTECTION REGULATION (CPR 2023) PROTECT THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF ELECTRICITY CONSUMERS?” and was marked by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The award ceremony was held at the NERC ‘s office in Abuja with the first 3 winners receiving cheques, plaques and certificates.

The statement continues, “Ogundola received a cheque of #500,000.00 along with other materials, being the overall winner.

“The NERC Chairman, Sanusi Garba, while presenting the award said that the annual event was to encourage children and youths to develop interests in Nigerian power sector, electricity and energy conservation.

“The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Professor Babatola Ayodele congratulated Faith Ogundola and the management of EKSU International College, Afao – Ekiti for making the university proud.

“He assured that the College would always receive his administration’s support”.
