The Presidential Standard bearer of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has expressed concern and worry over the rising flood cases in the country.
He stated this following the ravaging floods that rendered some Nigerians homeless and killed nearly one hundred people in different communities of the state.
The LP Presidential Candidate went further to extend his condolences to the Government and communities whose properties and lives were affected by the excess flooding in Jigawa State.
Obi said on his verified tweeter handle, “It’s profoundly disturbing to learn that nearly 100 lives have been lost and 100,000 Nigerians displaced from their homes due to the flooding.
“My heart goes out to the Government of Jigawa State, the affected communities, the bereaved and displaced families, in these challenging times.
“We can expect more of such disasters, and as such, we must measures aimed at greater resiliency in times of natural disasters.”
He urged the Federal and State governments to come to the aid of the flood victims, even in other parts of the nation, and help them through the turbulent times.
Obi also call on the relevant authorities to intensify efforts to mitigate loses and casualties resulting from natural disasters.
