The PDP Senatorial candidate for Lagos Central, Dr. Adewale Gomez, has berated the APC-led administration for the lack of innovation and implementation strategy in addressing the recent events bedeviling the nation.
Stating this on the Good Morning Show, Arise TV, the Senatorial candidate faulted the mismanagement nature, “archaic” and poor implementation method of the Federal Government on issues bothering on PVC collections and the Naira redesign, while calling for a review by the government in addressing the situation.
According to him, “I will start with the issue of the PVC. I think it is a reflection of the mismanagement that takes over Nigeria, and how people have been treated. That’s why I was talking about the citizens right. We are now in the age of technology. And I want to say that the issue of PVC should go pass going to one area to collect your PVC. We should have this thing where it could be technologically motivated.
“Well, you can go to bank and get the PVC; go somewhere else; make it technologically based. If you go the way you are going, that is when you are going to have the problems that you are having. Simple management problem, that is the problem. And I think the right of people to have the PVC in sacrosanct. People should be allowed to collect their PVC; to vote; it is their right to vote.
“On the issue of the new Naira note. The policy is fantastic, because it going to, in the long run, reduce cost push inflation. I like that idea. But the implementation is where the problems are. The implementation is supposed to be smooth-sailing.
“Let me tell you, people are really suffering in Nigeria now: for you not to have cash at your dispensation. For example, I was coming today just to get some money to put in my pocket. I was told that I have to pay so much in exchange. Which means the value of the Naira has dropped, by what they are giving us. So, it is just not right for people to be treated this way. And I think the government and the central bank should sit down together and find an easy way to get this things sorted out.
“So the faster they address it the better for us. Because election is around the corner, people got to move around. Everything is just in a chaos here. And it shows their inefficiency and the system we are running now. APC is just not…,they just do not understand how to make Nigerians happy,” he stated.
NEWSTODAYNG recalled that beginning from last year, several individuals have cried out on their inability to get their Permanent Voters’ Card(PVC); more recently and notably, citizens across the nation have expressed their displeasures as Banks are crowded due to the scarcity of the new naira note.
