Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted a traffic officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Popoola Olasupo, on his way to his duty post.
This was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
It was gathered that Olasupo was kidnapped about 6:30am on Sunday around the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the kidnappers who emerged from the bush and opened fire on a commercial bus conveying Olasupo to work and kidnapped only him.
It was further gathered that policemen and some volunteers are currently on the pursuit of the gunmen.
“Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them; we are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.
“Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” Oyeyemi said.
