The President, Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU), Comrade Abel Adewale AJIBADE has called on the newly elected House of Assembly members in Ekiti State to improve the education sector of the State.
Adewale made this call in a press release while congratulating the elected members of the State.
“On behalf of the Ekiti State Students, both home and in diaspora, I congratulate you all, the newly elected members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, saddled with the responsibility of making laws and substantial policies for the progress of the State, and in the interest of the good people of Ekiti State” he said.
Adewale also noted that the importance of lawmakers is to affect the lives of citizens positively.
He added that bursary and scholarship should be available for students and be an annual budget as they are student dividends of democracy and is always in the budget of the State yearly.
According to him, the last time bursary was disbursed was three years ago, during the COVID-19 lockdown, adding that other states of the federation disbursed allowance to the students.
“We urge for Students development driven legislation to further improve the education standard of the State and prioritize the interest of the Students of Ekiti in formulation of favorable policies that addresses the welfare of the students”. He pleaded.
The Union President also noted that subventions be provided for all institutions of the state, adding that it would limit the effects of strikes.
He added that students of the state should be well taken care of, stressing on the need of provision of buses for the student union, which would attend to issues pertaining to them.
