Family members of kidnapped Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mohammed Yakubu Lawal, have said that the kidnappers are demanding N100 million ransom for his release.
According to report, the family of the victim had offered the sum of N3.5 million to the kidnappers, but the kidnappers insisted on the N100m and also demanded for the governor’s contact which was not provided as such they switched off their phone.
According to the victim’s younger brother, Mr Tanimu Yakubu who spoke with Newsmen on Wednesday morning, he was able to speak with one of the kidnappers through his elder brother’s ( the victim’s phone line).
He also confirmed that even the wife of the Victim also spoke to her husband and the kidnappers were demanding for N100,000,000 ransom to release their victim.
“The kidnappers called one of us at about 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) and said the only way they would release the commissioner was when we pay the sum of N100 million as ransom.
“We offered to pay N3.5m, but they switched off their phone. We have been dialling the number since then without connecting.” Tanimu stated.
Recall that the Police had yesterday morning, confirmed the abduction of the commissioner in his residence at Nassarawa Eggon Local government of the state on Monday at about 9pm.
