As the 2023 Nigeria Association Of Women Journalist (NAWOJ) election gather momentum, the Ekiti State Chapter has tasked the aspirant vying for the position of National Vice President, Zone B, Morenike Tony-Esan, to defend the Union against exploitation.
The Union stated this on Monday, during the campaign flag-off of the national elections slated for November 25, 2023.
The Chairperson of the Chapter, Fatima Bello expressed ordeal faced as previous administration have only made promises and not fulfilled any, pointing that all benefits promised to them have not been met.
Morenike, a one-time Executive at the national level NAWOJ, reinstated her intention to lead at thr national level, noting that her passion for NAWOJ, women and children prompted her desire to run for the position.
Soliciting the support of the union chapter, Morenike requested that voting her as Vice President will help her pioneer and lead the union to growth, adding that her administration will administer unity, proper coordination, quality programmes and teamwork.
She promised to fight for the interests of Ekiti if any benefit relating to the union is disbursed, noting that all benefits attached to the union will be duly implemented and things will change for good.
Speaking on controversies surrounding the payment of dues, she added that dues are disbursed from national level to state level and then to zones before it gets to Chapters.
