…partners NUJ Online Media Chapel on news reportage

The Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Ekiti State Command, Kayode Ademola has said invalidation of National Identification Number, NIN is the major factor responsible for delay of Passport issuance to Application in the state.

The Comptroller stated this on Tuesday when the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Online Media Chapel made a courtesy visit to his Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.

Comptroller Ademola noted that Applicants commit names and dates of birth errors on their NIN, which makes it impossible for the Commission to proceed the processing at the designated interval.

He therefore called on Applicants to make sure their data tallies on their NIN dashboard before proceeding to Immigration Office for Passport Application.

In his words, “Our people have to be orientated that NIN invalidation delays Passport issuance.

“If names are changed and gets to the place of production, it won’t be processed until people gets to NIN Office. So, it has to be verified.

“Aside that one, once you meet the requirements, the process will be faster as scheduled i.e Minimum of 6 weeks for new Applicants after capturing and 3-week minimum for renewal.”

Speaking on Partnership, Comptroller Ademola extolled the importance of Media in the state, adding that the Agency is ready to partner with the Chapel and have access to their activities so that the Public can have the right information about them.

On his part, the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Ayodele Abere hailed the efforts of the Comptroller since his assumption in office in 2022, adding that the Chapel is ready to partner and project their under-reported activities.
