The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief ( Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has revealed that the BAO led administration will break records and go down in history as the first administration to have the highest number of females in the Assembly since 1999.

She made this known while canvassing support for APC candidates ahead of Saturday’s poll, particularly female ones.

According to her, six women will be contesting on the party’s platform.

“I am happy to inform you that in the election to the Ekiti State House of Assembly, six women will be contesting under APC, our great party. BAO’s administration will go down in history as the first administration to have the highest number of females in the assembly since 1999.

” Let me say without fear of contradiction that Ekiti women are occupying many important positions like the Deputy Governor, Speaker, SSG, Special Adviser, female permanent secretaries, Accountant General and Auditor General for Local Government.

“I am sure that many women are still coming on board as honourable members of the House of Assembly, commissioners, and other political positions in this administration”.

On her part, the wife of the Governor, Her Excellency, DR. Olayemi Oyebanji, encouraged women in the state to support all APC candidates in the upcoming House of Assembly election in order to add a voice towards advocacy for better opportunities for the women.

“The Ekiti State Government has taken impressive strides in promoting gender equity, fairness, and justice. However, gender equality and women’s empowerment remain unfinished business in the state. This implies that there is still much ground to cover as touching gender inequality.

‘’The government has made the welfare of women a top priority in its Seven-Point Agenda, and it will continue to prioritize it in its development plan. The government is committed to ensuring that women have equal access to opportunities in all aspects of human endeavors, particularly in education, politics, and socio-economic participation, resulting in a more gender-balanced, diverse, and inclusive society.

‘’ On this note, I encourage all women in attendance to support all APC candidates, especially our women aspirants, in the upcoming Ekiti State House of Assembly election to enhance governance and add a voice towards advocacy for better opportunities for the women. Women make up a significant portion of the world’s population, and their active participation in all spheres of life, be it politics, socio-economic activities, among others, and will go a long way in promoting gender equality.
