Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo recently shared his belief that experiencing pain is essential for personal growth, likening it to fertilizer that purifies the soul.
During a conversation on Chude podcast with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Dakolo emphasized the transformative power of pain, stating that it shapes individuals and helps them develop a deeper understanding of life.
Dakolo used the analogy of a plant needing fertilizer to thrive, suggesting that pain serves a similar purpose in human life. He pointed out that certain experiences of pain lead to profound revelations and self-awareness, citing the biblical story of the prodigal son as an example.
According to Dakolo, it was only after experiencing hardship and hitting rock bottom that the prodigal son was able to reflect and change his ways.
Drawing from the experience of childbirth, Dakolo highlighted how the pain of labor brings about a significant change in a woman’s life. He emphasized that individuals have the choice to let pain either push them towards negative or positive outcomes, referencing his song “Omo Ayo” as an example of choosing resilience and joy in the face of adversity.
In “Omo Ayo,” Dakolo celebrates his strength and resilience despite facing heartbreak and challenges, symbolizing the ability to find joy and hope even amidst difficult circumstances.
Through his music and words, Dakolo encourages listeners to embrace pain as a natural and necessary part of life’s journey, recognizing its potential to lead to personal growth and transformation.
