Jose Peseiro who left his position as Super Eagles coach after leading the team to a second place finish at the AFCON 2023, has been linked with a return to the Super Eagles coaching job.
The former Super Eagles coach who was replaced by Finidi George was unable to turn the tide after he took over the coaching job which led to his dismissal after poor performance.
According to Gerald Baloyi of local agency, Vodia Sports International Management, “Peseiro has been offered to South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite Peseiro being linked with the Sundowns coaching job, he could return to the Super Eagles job”.
The Portuguese joins Frenchman Patrice Carteron, and former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer, who are also linked with Sundowns.
Peseiro led the Eagles to 1-1 draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe on matchday 1 and 2 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November 2023.
The Eagles currently occupy fifth place in Group C on three points after four games.
They will resume the qualifiers in March when they will face Rwanda in Kigali before hosting Zimbabwe in Uyo.
Meanwhile, the Eagles will take on Rwanda, Benin Republic and Libya.
