The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Yakubu Adamu from Kumbi village in Kirfi local government area of Bauchi state for stabbing his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar to death in a bid to claim ownership of his Bajaj motorcycle.

According to the Spokesperson of the State command, SP Ahmed Wakil, “the suspect admitted to the crime and disclosed that he began stealing motorcycles back in 2020.

“On the 13th of October 2023, at approximately 19:30, Usman Mohammad, aged 38, from Gorondo village via Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State, reported at the Divisional Headquarters Kirfi that on the same day, around 3:40 PM, Yakubu Adamu, aged 25, from Kumbi village via Alkaleri LGA, armed with a sharp knife, attacked his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar, also aged 25 and residing at the same address.

“The assailant forcibly took his red Bajaj motorcycle with registration number 526-OG, the value of which is yet to be determined. The victim suffered severe injuries, with wounds on his stomach and hands as a result of the stabbing.

“Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives promptly responded, transferring the victim to General Hospital Alkaleri, where a medical doctor confirmed his unfortunate demise. The perpetrator has been apprehended and is currently undergoing police questioning.

“During interrogation, the defendant confessed to the crime and disclosed that he commenced his motorcycle theft activities in 2020, collaborating with one Auwalu from the same locality. Together, they stole a red Bajaj motorcycle, which was subsequently sold for seventy thousand naira (N70,000). The proceeds were then divided between them. The investigation is ongoing, and once concluded, the suspect will be brought before the court,” he stated.
