The Ekiti State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a member of “Eiye Confraternity”, Salawudeen Lookman, and others over the death of Okada ticketing officer at Okesa, POS agent and the rice hawker at Bisi market, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital.
This development came in the wake of series of violent incidents last week that left residents in a state of fear and despair.
The tension in the state capital escalated after three individuals were brutally killed in broad daylight over the span of two days.
The first victim, an executive of the commercial motorcyclists’ association, was murdered on Tuesday and two days later, a POS operator, popularly referred to as Alfa, was slain near the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in the Adebayo Area.
The violence continued later that day with the killing of a trader at Oja Bisi, which further heightened the sense of insecurity among the populace.
Parading Lookman and 20 other suspects for different offences at the Headquarters of the command, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Sunday Abutu intensified their efforts to track down the perpetrators.
Their investigations led to the arrest of several suspects, including members of notorious cult gangs and other criminals who reportedly traveled from Plateau State to carry out these heinous acts.
The police have assured the public that detailed information regarding the arrests and subsequent legal proceedings will be provided soon and have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of the community.
