…urges the masses to be patient

Ekiti Council of Elders have urged the Federal Government to put its act together and provide succor for the masses from the lingering currency and petroleum problems.
They made this appeal in a press release on Tuesday, after an Executive meeting, stating that the varying tunes from different government authorities on the lingering currency swap and fuel shortages is doing the masses no good, and therefore urged the Federal Government to put its acts together towards mitigating the unbearable hardship the Nigerian citizens are currently facing.
The Elders, led by Prof Joseph Oluwasanmi, also noted that Nigerians are resilient, and warned that their patience should not be stretched.
“Nigerians are resilient, displaying understanding and faith in the on-going political dispensation. Their patience should not be stretched to a snapping level that may result into total breakdown of laws and orders.
“Unfortunately, some pockets of violent protests resulting into loss of innocent lives and properties have occurred in some parts of the Country. The Council of Elders is appealing for more understanding on the part of the populace while the government is putting machineries in place to bring succour on the currency and petrolium problems.
“As all Nigerians are eagerly looking forward to the fast approching polls, the government should ensure that the processes are not in any way truncated under any guise what-so-ever for the survival of the Country.
“On the home front, the Ekiti Council of Elders appreciates the philanthropic spirit of Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN who donated a complex, completed with fittings and amenities to the Ikere-Ekiti High Court to aid justice delivery processes in Ekiti State and other Ekiti sons and daughters who have been contributing to the progress and growth of the State in various ways.”
