The incident unfolded when Yemi Alade, often referred to as Mama Africa, posted a video clip on her X account with the caption, “Africa our time is NOW!!” In response, a fan with the username @ThatNigerianlad made a comparative comment aimed at Tiwa Savage, stating, “U better than tiwa.”
In a swift and mature response, Yemi Alade shut down the attempt to create a divide between their fanbases, emphasizing the importance of celebrating both artists’ successes. She stated, “Comparison is the thief of Joy. We’re both winning…. celebrate and support us all.”
