The Chairman of Bayelsa Traditional Rulers Council, King Bubaraye Dakolo has admonished the new appointees of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to thoroughly review audit on the Commission for better performances.
NEWSTODAYNG recalled that Tinubu appointed a new management team and NDDC board to ensure a new era of successful administration in the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Speaking in a live interview with ARISE NEWS, Bubaraye stated that law enforcement agency should be actively involved so that the NDDC will not act against the law while discharging their duties.
Highlighting on the incident of ‘off the mic moment’ of corrupt practices which the past NDDC board has been probed with, Bubaraye noted that the possible ways NDDC can improve is for all legal enforcement agency to involve in the affairs of the board and a thorough audit review carried out.
In his words, “EFCC and law enforcement agency should stand tall enough so that the NDDC board do not go against the law, cause once you do there is a price to pay.
“A forensic audit report that is somewhere should be released, there is no need to write another one. I don’t think they have to go ahead and do a new audit all over again, there is one they did, they should go ahead and bring it out and retrieve money from all those who have taken money that should be a good starting point” he said.
He further hinted that the new management has done some Innovations and is looking at private, public partnership where the private sector will be involved and be accountable to the people.
Bubaraye added that annual or quarterly audit must be carried out to enable NDDC to perform.
“There should be an annual audit of NDDC or quarterly audit be help the NDDC achieve it’s mandate.
“The new management team are young people incline to development, who are active agitators, Yes like Dr. Opokwu has been an activist of the Niger Delta and we are hoping that given the right atmosphere if people do not arm twist him, he is going to perform and that is what we want the institutions of Nigeria to help in complimenting. They should assist the NDDC to perform as much as possible”. He stated
